PocketLegal was named after our digital philosophy: to put the law in your pocket.
How do we do this?
Our technology and our practices.
Our custom built technology, integrated into both our website and our app, allows for our clients to oversee their matters in a way that hasn’t been done before in the legal industry.
In traditional law firms, clients simply don’t have access to their file. Their file is usually in the form of a manila folder or a ring binder, and is physically stored in a filing cabinet or a filing room at the firm.
What this means is that there’s no way for a client to check in on their matter without contacting the lawyer. The result? Being charged for a phone call, email or meeting just to get an update. For clients who want to be kept in the loop, this results in sky-high invoices and an outcome that costs a whole lot more than originally anticipated.
When you’re paying for a lawyer’s time by the six-minute unit, and you have to get in touch just to request a document or to check in on progress, that’s what you get.
We’ve done it differently.
Our technology allows clients to upload documents, input information, pay invoices, chat with us and monitor the progress of their matter.
And we don’t even charge by the billable hour. Our fees are fixed, so you’re in for no nasty surprises, even if you do want to chat with us.
Ultimately, we want our clients to be happy, and we want their matter to be resolved quickly and easily. Giving clients access to their matter through technology, the way we do, simply makes sense.
So what does the name PocketLegal mean?
It means that we think the law should be accessible, digital and beneficial to our clients.
It means the law done differently.
